Some hunts are unforgettable, not just because of the harvest, but because of the incredible person behind it. Charlie’s elk hunt with Sportsmen For Heroes was one of those moments that will stay with us forever.
Charlie lives with TAR syndrome, a rare condition that affects the bones in the forearm and can cause dangerously low platelet counts. Despite the challenges she faces, Charlie approaches life with a strength and determination that inspires everyone around her. Anyone who has met Charlie knows she is a true fighter with a spirit that refuses to quit
.
When the opportunity came to take Charlie on her very first elk hunt, a dedicated team came together to make it happen. Devin, Matt, Owen, Steve, Charles, Charlie’s dad, and Sonny all joined forces to give her an experience she would never forget. On the very first day of the hunt, Charlie successfully harvested her elk, turning a dream into reality.
For many of us involved, this hunt quickly became one of the most meaningful we’ve ever been part of. After taking many people hunting over the years, Charlie’s hunt easily ranks at the top. Her toughness, positive attitude, and unstoppable spirit reminded everyone present why Sportsmen For Heroes exists.
Charlie is truly a trooper. Nothing and we mean nothing is going to stop this strong, determined young girl from chasing her dreams.
Congratulations, Charlie. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your first elk hunt and such a special moment in your life.
We would also like to thank everyone who played a role in making this hunt possible. Your support and dedication help create life-changing experiences for heroes like Charlie.
At Sportsmen For Heroes, moments like this are exactly why we do what we do.
